The short story: I have always been committed to living a full and integrated life bringing the philosophies of meditation and yoga into both my career and personal lives. From my first career as a professional dancer to my second career as a Graphic Design Professor, to my current profession as a UCLA-trained Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator and Yoga Alliance certified teacher.
I’ve worked in a myriad of environments from artistic to corporate and enjoy the challenges each has to offer. Often describing myself as a recovering Drama Queen, I’ve turned to sharing with others what I’ve learned about easing life’s transitions with a flexible, resilient, and creative mind.
I'd love to guide you towards a more resilient, calmer, clearer and happier self.
The longer story: As a high energy, injury prone dancer, I was often met with pain, rejection, and deep disappointment, needing to constantly find the resilience within myself to push through it. I was first introduced to meditation through a yoga class when I was living in London. Held in a dark, cold basement, the class radiated an energy of anything but. As I sat in silence, bundled in multiple layers of clothing, I experienced a strange and unfamiliar sensation: calm. This pivotal moment eventually led to my discovery of meditation, cognitive therapy, and movement practices. It is with this foundation that I navigated the struggles of two divorces, becoming a single mother, losing both my parents, managing a cancer diagnosis, and re-inventing my career. I received my BA when I was 40 and my MFA when I was 48, all the while working full-time and raising a spectacular daughter.
Since that moment in London over 30 years ago, I have resisted the temptation to numb myself in reaction to the onslaught of life, and instead choose to focus my attention on the deep awareness of my own human experiences: good, bad, and neutral. It is with this investigative mindset that I advance towards my goals and maintain pride in the self-lead woman I am today.
